Coins
There are six coins in currency in Australia.
In picking up any two coins—what amounts of money can you make?
e.g. 50c and 20c make 70c.
What amounts can you not make if you have only one of each coin?
Two of each?
Repeat the task, but with selecting any 3 coins.
Load the Ferry
A car ferry has 3 lanes - each 20 metres long.
The vehicles waiting for it to load on one trip are:
- A truck 12 metres in length
- A truck 10 metres long
- A van 6 metres in length
- A van 7 metres long
- A car with a trailer 7 metres in total
- A car with a caravan 10 metres in total
- Two cars each 4 metres long
Can they all fit on the ferry at the same time?
Draw a diagram to show how they could fit.
Is there more than one solution?
How many different ways could they fit on the ferry?
