I liked that the session was hands on, practical activities using simple resources already in schools. Kept relating back to see how each fits into maths syllabus. I will be following up using the pattern block and other resources that I know are in the school but are getting dusty. I think the outcomes for my students will be that they will recognize that maths is in every thing around us.

I will be investigating in the classroom with more open ended questions. Outcomes for the students will be that they will be able to think more independently and problem solve. I love hearing different teaching scenarios other composite classroom teachers demonstrated in all different learning styles. Great Day!

The workshop was very hands-on and continuously linked its activities to the maths syllabus. It was great to talk to other teachers from a multi-age background. It was also good to see how you can link the
different levels with different age groups.

Today’s workshop was a great in-service with lots of practical ideas for the implementation of Maths in a Multi-age classroom and small school. An exceptional day of highly productive ideas that I know I will use in my classroom and of activities linking back to the maths syllabus. Today was actually the first day I’ve receive any in-service related to the syllabus and it has been invaluable.

I will certainly give group work another go after being reminded on how children learn from other children and that the teacher’s role is not always being the teller. Thanks for the practical ideas that I can begin using in my classroom start tomorrow. I will be looking for the pattern blocks

Practical/ hands on/ applicable activities that are easily transferable in multi-age classroom. I will be following up on the group activities where children are using a variety of strategies to solve problems and then reflect and discuss their outcomes. It was wonderful to get together with teachers in similar situations.
